According to co-owner Kimberly Majerowicz, “the art of gift-giving has become a humdrum experience” with GiftPoke designed to personalize and incorporate fun into the exercise

With four children, Frank and Kimbery Majerowicz have spent countless hours searching for the perfect gifts to celebrate birthdays, and special occasions and events. Like many other couples, they have regularly been frustrated over the years by their inability to choose items that are deemed necessary, useful, and the perfect fit for family members, friends, and business associates. Taking matters into their own hands, the husband-and-wife team invented GiftPoke, an app designed to inject excitement into the gift-giving experience, while also assuring that choices more often hit the mark. Currently in the final stages of beta testing, the app officially launches in February.

The GiftPoke process begins when an individual asks a friend or family member to download the app and begins choosing items found on the site that they would like to receive as a gift. The gift-buyer, in turn, receives automatic notifications 30 days prior to specially-marked dates – such as birthdays and anniversaries – alerting the individual to make the purchase. The items are shipped directly to the recipient’s home or work address.

The Majerowicz’s recently signed a lease with Hill Management Services for 1,800 square feet of space at 9618 Deereco Road in the Timonium section of Baltimore County. The building is contained within Timonium Commerce Park, a two-building business community comprised of nearly 143,000 square feet of flex/R&D space. Danielle Bridge, Leasing Manager at Hill Management Services represented the landlord in this transaction.

According to Kimberly Majerowicz, GiftPoke is populated with a range of popular brands including Secrid Wallet, a minimalist wallet designed for the active population; bracelet supplier Pig and HenMud Pie, featuring home goods and unique gifts, and Teaspressa, a handcrafted drink making system that she says is “flying off the shelves.”

“The art of gift-giving has morphed into a boring and humdrum experience, in part due to the heavy use of websites such as Amazon where products arrive in nondescript brown boxes,” Majerowicz explained. “GiftPoke is entirely different as each item is contained within a fun package complete with fancy bows and wrapping. Part of the fun is opening the box. We also offer product bundles, where individuals choose several related items which complement one another.”

GiftPoke found the perfect building in Timonium Commerce Park which offers a true brick-and-mortar retail set-up. solution in the front and a warehouse/logistics operation in the back, complete with rear loading capabilities. The middle section of the space will be used for office and administrative functions. Timonium Commerce Park’s strategic location in Baltimore County, and near York Road, makes it convenient to access for an expansive residential population, according to the owners.

Timonium Commerce Park fronts Deereco Road, is located directly adjacent to Interstate 83, is within several miles from the Hunt Valley and Towson, and surrounded by numerous densely-populated residential neighborhoods in Baltimore County.

“GiftPoke is a highly-differentiated concept that, we believe, fills an important void in the retail space and allows people to receive the perfect gift every single time because they actually choose it,” stated Danielle BeyrodtVice President, and Chief Operating Officer of Hill Management Services. “The owners bring a local flair and an entrepreneurial spirit to their concept and have demonstrated extreme passion and energy with this effort. These are traits that will ensure their long-term success.”
